What is a Crypto Wallet?

A crypto wallet is a digital tool that lets you store, send, and receive cryptocurrencies like SOL (Solana). It also acts as your digital identity on TradeVerse — your wallet address is how buyers and sellers identify you. We recommend using Phantom Wallet, a popular and user-friendly Solana wallet available as a browser extension and mobile app.

Installing Phantom Wallet

  1. Visit phantom.com or search for "Phantom" in your browser's extension store (Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Edge).
  2. Click "Download" and add the extension to your browser.
  3. Open the extension and choose "Create New Wallet" (or "Import Wallet" if you already have a seed phrase).
  4. Set a strong password and securely back up your 12-word seed phrase. Never share it with anyone.

After installation, you'll have a wallet address starting with a Solana public key (e.g., Gx8...). This is your public identifier on the blockchain.

Connecting to TradeVerse

  1. Click the "Login" button in the top-right corner of TradeVerse.
  2. Select "Connect Wallet" from the dropdown. Phantom will open and ask for permission.
  3. Review and approve the connection request in Phantom. TradeVerse can only view your wallet address, not access your funds.
  4. Once connected, your wallet address will appear in the header along with your SOL balance.

You only need to connect once. TradeVerse uses a read-only connection to verify your identity — all transactions require your explicit approval in Phantom.

Using Wallet on Mobile

If you are browsing TradeVerse on your phone, install the Phantom mobile app from the App Store or Google Play. When you connect your wallet on mobile, TradeVerse uses Mobile Wallet Adapter (MWA) to communicate with Phantom seamlessly.

Security Tips

  • Never share your seed phrase or private keys. TradeVerse will never ask for them.
  • Only approve connection requests from trusted websites. Always verify you are on the real TradeVerse domain.
  • For large transactions, consider using a hardware wallet (Ledger) with Phantom for extra security.
  • Always double-check transaction details in Phantom before signing — verify the amount and recipient address.

Wallet & Escrow

Your wallet plays a central role in the escrow system. When you purchase an item, funds are sent from your wallet to a secure escrow program on the Solana blockchain.

The seller can see that funds are deposited but cannot access them until you confirm receipt. This protects both parties during the transaction.

You will be prompted to approve each step in Phantom — funding escrow, confirming delivery, or resolving disputes. No one can move your funds without your signature.
